How much should you pay in Zakat per year?
- Every Muslim who is sane, has reached the age of majority, and possesses more wealth than the bare minimum is obligated to give Zakat.
- Zakat is 2.5 percent of an individual's total accumulated wealth over the course of a lunar year. The Nisab is the bare minimum of wealth that a Muslim must own in order to be able to pay Zakat.
- The Nisab threshold is determined by using the values of gold and silver. The value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver is the Nisab.
